Partial Denture
Removable partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. They usually consist of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored resin base, which is sometimes connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth. In some cases, a removable partial denture is made to attach to your natural teeth with devices called precision attachments. Precision attachments are generally more aesthetic than clasps. Removable partial dentures can also be fabricated using flexible dental resin.
In the beginning, your new partial denture may feel awkward or bulky. This is normal, and you will eventually become accustomed to wearing it. It will take some time to learn how to insert, remove, and clean partial dentures. Your dentist will have tips and instructions to aid you in this process.
